Offaly international airport plan clears first hurdle

Plan to build an airport in Co Offaly has cleared the first hurdle after being granted “strategic infrastructure” status by An Bord Pleanala. The €200 million development is a private initiative led by Tullamore-based architect, Patrick Little of Axis Architecture.

Mountjoy Square to be named protected area

Dublin’s Mountjoy Square, claimed to be Dublin’s finest Georgian square measuring an equal length on all sides, is to be declared an architectural conservation area by Dublin City Council.

Building work is set to start on a new €30 million building project at St Patrick's College, Drumcondra, Dublin, after the Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills, Mary Coughlan, recently approved the contract for the project.

Danish architects C. F. Møller have jointly won a competition for a new opera house and cultural centre in Kristiansund, Norway. The proposal aims to integrate the centre with its surroundings by incorporating the existing buildings on either side and creating an urban space around the building, which will connect the cultural centre with the streets, squares and nearby park.
